Mathtoearth LogoA place for tutors and students to talk about math problems. New participants can choose to be students or tutors. Tutors can make a name for themselves as they create and post solutions to problems students ask. A ranking system (not implemented yet) based on clarity, simplicity, and accuracy allows students and highly ranked tutors to comment on solutions provided. As tutors answer questions their ranking can move up or down based on the ranking of their solutions. It is also a place where students can find private tutors with whom they would work well.

The polydirectional nature of communicating mathematics proves to be a formidable challenge when attempting to tutor it online. This site may also be a place where ideas about online tutoring can be discussed.

It is important to know that tutoring is not just about knowing math and remembering tricks to figure out solutions to problems. It is also about understanding patterns and how ideas are connected so that solutions naturally reveal themselves in a way that is convincing to someone who is new to that level of mathematics.

This site is currently under construction as I learn HTML, PHP, and MySQL. The site will continue to change daily as I discover new ways to do things. Feel free to contact me at ed@mathtoearth.org if you would like to contribute to the creation of the site or if you have ideas for it.
